Application Information

Thank you for applying to MGCC! We are excited to have you join us. Please make sure to print the last page of your application once you are finished. It will list your VCCS/MGCC username, student ID number, and a temporary password to login to MyMGCC.

Effective February 14th, 2020, all new applicants to any VCCS college will not receive access to their VCCS student email prior to enrolling in at least once course. MGCC requires new students to meet with an academic advisor before enrolling in classes.

In order to provide a safe and secure learning environment, admission to Virginia Community Colleges require that all new credit applicants verify their identity.  Applicants will need access to a computer or mobile device that has a camera in order to provide a real-time photo of themself (Liveness Check) and upload a photo ID (Driver's License, Passport, ID Card, etc.).

Admissions Requirements:

Mountain Gateway Community College has open admissions for most programs. You can be admitted if you:

1) Have a high school diploma/its equivalent, OR

2) Are at least 18 years of age and able to benefit from one of our programs

Admissions and Onboarding Process for New Students

• Complete the MGCC Application for Admission. Print the last page of your application, as it lists your student ID number, username, and temporary password.

• Review your Acceptance Email from MGCC's Admissions Office. Emails are sent to the personal email address you provide in the admissions application.

• Complete MGCC's online New Student Orientation. Click the link, then click "Student Login," and then "Create New Student Account." You will not use your myMGCC username and password and must create new login credentials. This orientation must be completed to successfully onboard as a MGCC student.

• Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Completing the FAFSA will help you pay for college. If you need help, contact our Financial Aid department at 540-863-2836.

• Review your admission letter (emailed to the personal email address you provided in your admissions application) for important information from MGCC.

• Use your MGCC student ID number and your username ([VCCS SIS Username]) to access MyMGCC - from the MGCC homepage - www.mgcc.edu. This is where you can view the Student Information System, check your student email, and login to EAB Navigate, our powerful and comprehensive onboarding tool for new students. Please call the MGCC Help Desk at 540-863-2911 if you experience issues accessing your MyMGCC account.

• Send your official high school and/or college transcripts, as well as official AP, IB, CLEP, SAT, or ACT score reports, to the MGCC Office of Admissions, 1000 College Drive, Clifton Forge, VA, 24422. If you have not graduated high school yet, a final official high school transcript will need to be sent once you have graduated.

• Schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor. Please call 540-863-2820 (Clifton Forge campus) or 540-261-1211 (Rockbridge Regional Center) to schedule an appointment.
